South Boston and Dorchester

 

     South Boston and Dorchester are noted for their rich Irish heritage. Numerous subway stops are scattered throughout the area, most notably Broadway station . The station lets you out onto the intersection of both East and West Broadway Street and heading south is Dorchester Avenue about a mile will lead to Andrew Square and Andrew Station . Heading west a couple miles down Broadway leads you towards South Station and Downtown Boston and the eastern route will lead you through South Boston towards Castle Island . Cross streets starting at letter “A” and progressing through the alphabet make it easy for you to know where you are.

     “Southie” is a festive area highlighted with it’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade . The setting of blockbuster movie Goodwill Hunting and Boondock Saints are in South Boston. Head down “L” street and take a walk by the L Street Tavern. Enjoy a night out at Boston Beer Works or get some of the best pizza in Boston at Alex’s in Andrew Square or Magoo’s near Broadway. During the summertime hit up Castle Island beach and work on your tan. Along side Boston Harbor , you can enjoy the watching the planes at Logan Airport across the water. If you like to workout, Boston Athletic Club is close by Broadway. You could even take a ride on the Red Line into Quincy or Braintree if you need a break from the big city.

     The South Boston and Dorchester area are exciting places to live with plenty of entertainment to stay locally for or night and close enough to the main areas of Boston to have the best of both worlds. A ten minute cab or a couple subway stops and you can be almost anywhere in the city. Great heritage, terrific location, and delicious food are just some of the highlights in Southie for you to enjoy.
