The Back Bay of Boston is a neighborhood of the city and a body of water seperating Boston and Cambridge . Located just a few short stops on the subway from South Station, once again a short walk away towards the west. The Back Bay is widely considered to be one of the most desirable and fashionable neighborhoods in Boston. Happening night clubs like the Cactus Club and The Pour House, delicious restaurants such as Grill 23 & Top of the Hub, fancy cafe's, unique art galleries, and upscale fashion stores are just a few of the attractions. You can find some of the city's best nightclubs, restaurants, and luxury housing in Boston's Back Bay.
The entrance of the Back Bay begins at the Boston Commons, a gorgeous, scenic park complete with duck ponds and in winter time and outdoor skating rink. Monuments are scattered about. World renowned for it's theatre & arts, Emerson College lies at the foot of the Commons. Emerson is home to such famous performers as Dennis Leary and Rose Ann Barr. Also in the area in prestigious Boston College, or B.C. to the locals. Stop by the famous Boston Public Library or take a jaunt north through Boston Common's and wet your whistle at the famous Bull and Finch Pub, the inspiration for television's Cheers. Be sure to say hello to Norm & Cliff when you enter. Just a couple blocks further north will bring you to scenic Charles River. Walking west through the Boston Commons will lead you to upscale Boylston Street and Newbury Street.
Traveling west on Newbury or on Boylston will lead you to Commonweath Avenue, Copley Square, and the John Hancock Building. "Comm. Ave." is a major street running throught the majority of Boston, Copley Square is also noted as a fashionable and upscale area. The John Hancock is amongst the largest in Boston with breath taking views of the city from the top.
