The North End

Boston's North End

The North End / North Station (Map) area is the oldest residential district in Boston.  The North Station area is home to the TD Banknorth Garden, where you can catch a Boston Bruins or Boston Celtics game, or enjoy some great bars like the Harp or Grand Canal.  North Station is accesible via subway and is considered a major intersection of the Green Line & Orange Line subways and the Purple Line Commuter Rail.  On a nice day, you should take a walk to the west a bit, I'd ask a local for directions, to arrive in Faneuil Hall

Around the corner from the the Garden to the east, you will find the famous North End of Boston. Classic Italian heritage is the flavor of the area. Some of the greatest Italian cuisine and delicious bakeries in the world are here.  Be sure to check out this guide to Restaurants, Cafes, and Bakeries in the North End.  Some of the most exciting events in the entire city are the dozen annual weekend festivals honoring the most popular saints of their culture.   Crowds line the parading streets and eat the most delicious Italian delicasies.  If you enjoy cooking your own gourmet entrees at home, have a look at Michele Tupor's Recipe's & Tips. There are many wonderful exploring opportunies here.  Take a walk on The Freedom Trail, and visit many of the Revolutionary War historic sites, including Old North Church, The Paul Revere House, and the U.S.S. Constitution (Old Iron Sides).

The North End & North Station area of Boston is amoung the most exciting, historic cities in all of the United States.  One could certainly spend days exploring the cultural flavor and enjoying the nightlife.  Take in a fine dinner in the North End and catch a game at "The Garden", listen to live music at the Harp, and ride the subway home if your in the mood to treat yourself.
